Ayoob Thanoon is an Iraqi heritage and community activist and the founder and president of the Mosul Heritage Foundation. His journey began during the years of war, when he helped treat the wounded and support local families. He later led youth initiatives to clear rubble, support families returning home, and contribute to education and community recovery. He transformed this experience into a project dedicated to preserving Mosul's architectural and social memory and was selected as an ambassador for the "Revive the Spirit of Mosul" initiative from 2022 to 2025. In 2026, he won first place in the Individual category of the ICESCO–Azerbaijan Natavan Award for Excellence in Heritage.
