Qatar Foundation has launched BilAraby – an initiative designed to empower and amplify the voices of Arabic speakers across the world, and their inspiring and innovative ideas.
BilAraby aims to attract and nurture both local and global Arabic-speaking talents, providing them with opportunities to create meaningful and innovative content. Its launch reflects Qatar Foundation’s (QF) ongoing commitment to nurturing ideas, experiences, and stories that inspire others and drives positive social transformation within Arab societies and on a global scale.
Launched under the slogan ‘Ideas have a voice and an echo’, BilAraby will host regional events throughout the year, concluding with an annual summit that will offer a speaking platform for thought leaders, creators, and innovators to share their ideas and drive positive change.
Applications for speakers at BilAraby’s 2025 Doha summit are now open, and those interested can apply by submitting a five-minute video summarizing their profile, the idea they want to share, and its significance by 30 December 2024, at https://form.jotform.com/qfdigital/bilaraby
Hisham Nourin, Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives and Programs at Qatar Foundation, said: “Amid the rapid spread of content in other languages compared to Arabic content, we recognized the urgent need to develop a platform that delivers authentic, rich, and high-quality content in the Arabic language, and that reflects QF’s commitment to providing platforms that foster Arab creativity and drive positive social and cultural change.
“We envisioned the development of a multifaceted regional initiative with a global outlook to help bridge this gap, and continue our mission to unite intellectuals, achievers, and innovators who speak Arabic. Through BilAraby, we aim to unite intellectuals, distinguished individuals, and innovators who speak Arabic, creating a connected environment that enhances unity among Arabic-speaking communities.
“We seek to spark intellectual curiosity and critical thinking with a modern approach that aligns with our Arab and Islamic values, supporting our mission of fostering a strong, shared identity and promoting positive societal progress. At QF, we believe that changing the world can start with an idea, and through BilAraby, we aspire to provide a nurturing environment for inspiring ideas. We are committed to paving the way for agents of hope and positive change, amplifying their voices in Arabic to reach horizons beyond borders and geographical limitations.”
BilAraby has multiple objectives, such as enhancing intellectual engagement by encouraging participants to delve into meaningful discussions on diverse topics, and encouraging people to reconnect with their roots and shared identities, while strengthening community ties. It also fosters a supportive environment for exchanging expertise and working on joint projects and initiatives.
With the goal of broadening its impact and expanding its reach, BilAraby will also host regional events, and will offer a virtual space for idea sharing and knowledge exchange through a digital platform providing a comprehensive multimedia experience tailored to users’ interests and aspirations.
As part of its focus on increasing audience participation across all phases of the initiative, BilAraby launched a logo design competition in September 2024, receiving over 1,500 submissions from across the Arab world. The winning design will be unveiled at the main BilAraby summit in Doha in April 2025.
