Dr. Said Ismail

Dr. Said Ismail is a Professor at the College of Health and Life Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, a member of Qatar Foundation, and a specialist in genomics and precision medicine. He holds a PhD from the University of Oxford and has more than 25 years of experience spanning research, education, diagnostics, consulting, and management. He previously served as Acting President and Chief Scientific and Operations Officer at the Qatar Precision Health Institute. From 2015 to 2023, he led the Qatar Genome Programme, contributing to the development of a large-scale initiative to study population genomics and enhance the representation of Arab populations in global genomic knowledge databases. His work connects the health and population history encoded in our genes with the development of precision medicine better suited to the region.
